Dr. Heitman, originally from Montrose, Michigan, received his B.A. in Biology from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana in 1995. Moving to the East Coast, he received a scholarship from the United States Army to attend dental school at Boston University's Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He graduated with honors in 2000. Following dental school, Dr. Heitman utilized his skills in the service of his country in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. After tours in Korea and Fort Myer, Virginia, Dr. Heitman attended the U.S. Army Endodontic Residency Program at Fort Gordon, Georgia and graduated in 2007. Dr. Heitman completed his Army service with another tour in the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia areas at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the Pentagon Tri-Service Dental Clinic, and Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He was honorably discharged in December in 2011, and in March 2012 joined Lowcountry Endodontics of Beaufort. Dr. Heitman was elected into Kappa Omicron Pi, a dental honors society, is a member of the South Carolina Dental Association and the American Dental Association, and a specialist member of the American Association of Endodontists. Dr. Heitman is a published author in the Journal of Endodontics.
